Long time Mac user (1984). I'm enjoying reading the questions posted here and some of the answers are excellent, quite useful for me and no doubt others. Every now and then I bite and attempt to answer something.

How do I debug Airport Extreme (5th gen) + iPhone 5 wifi performance problems? I downgraded our AirPort Extreme to version 7.6.1 and it's working better than before. No dropouts on Macs or iOS devices. I hope Apple fixes the latest version at some point because I'm reluctant to upgrade now. |

How do I debug Airport Extreme (5th gen) + iPhone 5 wifi performance problems? I just downgraded my mother's Airport Extreme and lo and behold, it's faster now. I'll do ours when I get home. Wow, I gave good advice, I can't believe it. |

I can't access apple.com from my Macbook Have you tried different browsers on your Mac? Have you tried making a new user and logging into it? |

Time Machine backup to Airport Extreme AirDisk Well done: both your solution and your post here. Question for you: Does your backup disk spin down when not in use? |

How to speed up my Macbook? The hard driving being full is the biggest culprit but speed difference even on a half full HD compared with any SSD is amazing. |

Resurrection of my MacBook Pro You should be able to part out the dead MBP and at least take out it's SSD which is sealed is probably working fine. My guess is the sugar in the tea did a number on the exposed motherboard and all the small connections so that piece is probably not worth messing with. |

Any to know what wakes an Mac up? How about the bluetooth mouse and keyboard. My guess is there's a setting that allows them to wake the computer and that setting is adjustable. |

How to save a file quickly and no need to wait for the external hard drives to “wake up”? Right, because the drive isn't mounted or it its mounted it's not spinning. If you save it to the mounted, running drive it will be immediate. |

How to save a file quickly and no need to wait for the external hard drives to “wake up”? Why not save the files to a folder your internal drive and write a script to write them to the external and delete them from the internal at the end of the day. |

Alternative backup solution for a mac? I use SuperDuper (and have CCC). Been using it for many years and have never had an issue. |

Is it okay for a brand new 13" MacBook Pro Retina to not sit flat? I assume you didn't drop it or put it down hard enough to bend the case. Apple will race it but only after doing a test to see if it was dropped. The have special tools for this. |

What's the right way to backups photos when using iPhoto? Why not just back up your entire computer every day, then this will be a non issue. But, if you do any modification on the photos in iPhoto then that's the more important collection to back up. Serious photographers make backups of original RAW files on CD/DVD as well before processing (in Lightroom or Aperture) so you could do that too on your original images (your folder). But, once backed up, there is no need to keep the "my-photos" folder if you're going to use iPhoto to organize and modify the images. |

Can an iPad Mini with cell phone service SMS another phone? Apple's Messages program that comes with every iOS device can send/receive messages using a variety of carriers but I'm not sure it can send a text to a cellphone while connected through a cellular network only (which is your question no doubt). |

How do I maintain two different iOS devices on a single iMac You need to make a new OSX account on the Mac and have one for you, one for your wife. Each OSX account will have it's own iTunes prefs so it will be easy to just fast-switch to your account and know that iTunes will know all about your iPhone. You can share a single credit card if you like, or keep things totally separate. |

Instapaper freezing on startup due to problematic article Remember that you can always delete the Instapaper app on your iPod Touch and then get it again. Logging back into your account should being you to a list view, not an article view. |

What RSS reader software runs on iOS, Andriod and OS X for someone used to Google reader? The Reeder folks have tweeted that they're working on something so my guess is we'll be able to continue to use Reeder with either their or some other cloud service. Stay tuned... |

I brought My Macbook Pro last year in november (Latest Model available then) and suddenly today started to show a question mark? The hard drive and data (most of it anyway) may be okay (hopefully) it may be that the booting sequence can't find the Finder or there are corrupted files on the disk. Either way, you're right, using Apple's recovery mode and then disk utility will help sort that out. |
