Long time Mac user (1984). I'm enjoying reading the questions posted here and some of the answers are excellent, quite useful for me and no doubt others. Every now and then I bite and attempt to answer something.

comment My 13-inch MacBook from 2008 will not connect to the wireless network. Any suggestions?
When you say there is no "new" password are you saying there is a password but it is not new, or there was no password ever: an open network? Can you get access to the router's configuration controls? If yes, try turning off WEP to see if you can connect. If yes then turn WEP back on, change the password and help the Dells back on.

Try restarting the network: both modem and router or just router to see if that helps.

comment Does cloning with SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner clone everything from a HDD to a SSD?
Excellent point. I would think its not as crucial to have the recovery partition on a backup disk but if you wanted to use it as a primary disk at times then yes, why not have it.

comment Mac: how to securely delete an SD card?
Maybe it's time to consider not selling the card on eBay as there's something wrong with it. Again, what brand card is it? Maybe the manufacturer will stand behind it and swap you a new one.

comment What is the difference between SSD and flash drives in the latest MacBook Pros?
So, the question remains, is putting flash memory chips on a DIMM different from putting the DIMM in a drive enclosure? Does Apple use a different drive controller for the Air and Retina MBP or is it the same found in the Apple supplied SSD on the non-Retina MBP and other Macs?

comment Why isn't finder finding all files?
Have you excluded some folders from spotlight indexing? That might explain it.

comment NeO outliner by d-lit forums/users
Anyone here remember Acta, David Dunham's cool little DA outliner? I used to love it. I too am an outliner "freak" but find most modern implentations too complex for simple hierarchical list making and writing.

comment Will SSD improve iPhoto and Aperture responsiveness?
I agree with terrydev: while an SSD will almost always help it sounds like at least part of your issue with one or both might be a database that needs rebuilding. I'd work on your current system looking for problems before going the SSD route, especially if you're getting the SSD solely to speed these two applications up. How much overhead HD space do you have? If you're running low on extra space that can have an effect on programs like iPhoto and Aperture.

comment Which solutions are available for printing on the iPad to a HP LaserJet 1020 printer?
Right GEdgar, I don't think it matters how the connection from Mac to printer is made, my bad for describing that as it sounds like it's the only way. I was just describing my setup.

comment Extending network with 2 airport express from another router
Given the discussion under Martin's answer, you need to modify your question, it doesn't accurately reflect what you want to do, which is to extend a third, non-Apple router with the two AirPort Express units.

comment How to import dashboard stickies from an old hard disk without using migration assistant?
Chris: resizing is not the problem (it's easy), remembering a default typeface and size is my question. I find the default 10 pt Helvetica (or whatever it is) tough to read and prefer a larger typeface. I'd like all new stickies to assume that size and typeface. I thought if I just changed one to what I wanted, then chose "use as default" it would work. It has never worked for me. I'm wondering if you or anyone else has ever had this work. I should probably post this as a new question...

While we're on the subject, have you found a way to get stickies to retain type and size information? There is a "use as default" menu item but it has no effect (for me anyway).

comment Discrepancies in available capacity of Macbook Air SSD
This has been going on since magnetic and SSD storage was born. Apple isn't any different from other computer sellers and OEM suppliers, they all round the number because different file systems format disks/SSDs differently. Stu has it exactly right below.
