Long time Mac user (1984). I'm enjoying reading the questions posted here and some of the answers are excellent, quite useful for me and no doubt others. Every now and then I bite and attempt to answer something.

Airport Extreme not working with new modem When you say works fine, I assume you mean you're online. Next you need to completely reset the AirPort base station plug it into the modem and set it up from scratch. |

Add anniversary to calendar You can add an anniversary field in Contacts/Preferences/Templates with the pull down by choosing "Dates" but alas, it does not show up in the Calendar. No doubt that will come in some future version of Calendar. I thought I found the answer... at least we can put anniversary dates in Contacts and wait for the day Calendar inherits that field. |

Airport Extreme not working with new modem You go to system preferences/network and then choose ethernet if it's not automatically running. You may have to click "advanced" then TCP/IP and "renew DHCP Lease" if the computer isn't recognizing the modem. Run your browser and see if you're online when you're sure you're connected directly to the modem. |

Airport Extreme not working with new modem That sounds right. And are you sure your computer can get online when connected directly to the modem with Ethernet? |

Airport Extreme not working with new modem So you can connect your computer directly to the modem and get online, yes? The "WAN port thing" is the only way to plug a router into a modem like yours: Airport Extreme routers have 1 WAN port and 3 LAN ports for taking ethernet out. Sometimes in haste people plug the modem into one of the LAN ports. Just checking the hardware... |

Airport Extreme not working with new modem Have you plugged your computer directly into the modem with ethernet to make sure the modem is connected to the internet? Are you sure the ethernet cable you're using to connect the AirPort to the modem is good and plugged into the WAN port on the Airport? |

Deleting iMessages on iPad When you say your two devices are "synced" together are you saying they share an Apple ID? Can you be more specific on what you mean by "synced?" |

Can Apple's Notes handle pictures pasted from Clipboard? @Fendi: I don't use it and can't speak to it's stability but my guess is the capability is there as a place marker for notes turning into something like a super scrapbook. If you're losing things either it's not stable (yet) or you might try throwing out the notes prefs file to see if it's corrupted in some way. |

Will the Apple Store replace Macbook Pro keys or other parts if serious wearing occurs? Are you sure the keys are wearing out? My keys get shiny from use but if I clean the keyboard (wet cloth) they return to the way they looked before. I think a piece of the shinyness may be oil from your hands, not wear. |

My apps wont get out of wiggle mode Is there something wrong with your home button. I thought hitting the home button was the way to get out of wiggle mode (I love that term, even though it's no doubt not official). |

OS X esc key stops working (randomly) I have a similar thing happening (early 2011 MacBook Pro), mostly with my left command key but occasionally with other keys. I have AppleCare but I'm guessing this will require some time without my computer and I've been putting off dealing with it for over a year. I figured it was the keypad on this computer but your experience with an external keyboard gives me pause. I'd love it if it were software related and something I could fix easily. I'm staying tuned here. Mine had this problem with Snow Leopard... pre-Lion and Mountain Lion. |

How to transfer contents (especially contacts) from iPhone 4S to iPhone 5? Sync/backup 4S with iTunes. Plug 5 into iTunes and register/restore 4S backup onto it, when all is good, plug 4S in again and restore to factory settings. |

Is it a bad idea to purchase older Apple routers? I had an older "flying saucer" Airport extreme that got left behind by a newer version of what is now called Airport Utility. My guess is slightly newer (but not newest) Airport routers are probably fine although I don't know this for sure. That said, I upgrade my AirPort Extreme base station every 4 years or so and the newest one is considerably faster than the generation just before it. This may not be meaningful to you but I have a similar set up (Macs, AppleTV, multiple iOS devices and a micro cell connected to mine and the speed increase on the new one is noticeable. |

Restore iPhone 3GS backup on iPhone 4S Are you sure you have the cable seated properly in the 4S? Consider restarting computer, restarting iTunes to get it to show up. |

Why not use 1080p cameras for both front and back cameras on an iPad? I think your last point about FaceTime and bandwidth is it. it's a bottleneck/brake on bandwidth until the network infrastructure can handle it easily without choking. |

Recover contacts after deleting from iCloud? How did you sync your iPhone before buying the MacBook Pro? Do you have a backup sync on your older computer? |

How do I set a custom avatar for my account profile in Mountain Lion? That's the way I did it, worked fine. But, I agree with stantonk, there needs to be a way to add an image through a dialog associated with that pop down menu. |
