You should not mark something solved until you really know that it worked. Questions can be left open..

comment MacBook Pro a lot slower after reset
Regarding the adding of (2) to your shared computer name, it's an Apple bug.

comment I've lost the ability to sideload apps onto iOS 6 - iPhone 4s from iTunes 12
Your question title refers to iOS 6, but your question detail implies you are using iOS 7 and 8. Are you talking about different devices? Does your question really mean you're running iTunes 12, on Yo, and you cannot upload apps to an iOS 6 system? Could you please explain a bit more?

ps. I modded you up. Wish I could add a couple more. This (at least to me), is important stuff.

comment What is the difference between a 2011 i5, and a more recent i5?
Thanks for that. In the old days, we labelled each processor differently. We had the 68000, the 68010, 68030, and of course 8008, 80186, 80286, etc. I'm trying to understand the rationale (similarities?), that allow modern processors to keep the same basic name, even as you describe the differences. Is this just a marketing thing?

comment Erasing and Partitioning Hard Drive from Internet Recovery
You say your HD is detected. Is that in DiskUtility? If so, can you see both the drive and the volume? You must run partitioning from the drive, not the volume. Also, see if the drive is mounted -- select the drive, see the mount status in the DU menu bar. I think you can tell if the volume is mounted if the volume is greyed out. If it's mounted, unmount it, and try portion/reformat on the drive. It does sound like your Drive has failed.

comment iCloud Drive - Why am I running out of space, when my account shows 100_gb free?
I expect your right. This was a one time shot. I want to give the computer to my daughter as a birthday present -- so she can pass it on to her boyfriend and reclaim her own machine ;) I'll ask them if they have a drive. Tangentially, why am I paying for more iCloud space if there is limited utility, and while I will of course mod you up, I'd still like to get an answer to my question. Thank though.

comment Can I update an early Airport Time Capsule?
Thanks very much. Just what I needed to know, especially the possible pitfalls ( power, speed, reliability). I'd better think this over some more..

I think that if there is no second (admin) user already established, you cannot create one if you don't have access to the first one.
