Can I manually re-calibrate the iPhone 4 compass? I'm not using my compass app for wayfinding or something which requires extreme precision — I just wanted the maps app to show my orientation with an acceptable degree of accuracy. |

Considering Switch to Mac workstations and OS X Server; what unforeseen consequences should I be wary of? And, not that it makes a big difference, but I'm the only developer in the company, and I run my own development environment on my own machine regardless of what happens in this transition. Everyone else's "computing needs" are limited to word processing, spreadsheets, email, internet access for line-of-business web apps, and the occasional video chat. |

Considering Switch to Mac workstations and OS X Server; what unforeseen consequences should I be wary of? Will running two Mac mini servers lead to conflicts of some kind, since the two offices are effectively one working group? (document storage versioning, calendars, basically any shared resources) Or is the function of the second server simply to create the second local network and facilitate connection to the first server where that "canonical" data is stored and referenced? |

2008 iMac Running OS X 10.8.2 Won't Boot I did the RAM swap earlier this afternoon—no luck. Good call on the hardware repair—I'll get an estimate and see where I stand. |

2008 iMac Running OS X 10.8.2 Won't Boot The noise does appear on the Apple logo screen. I actually can't get any further into the boot than that screen. Fixing a hardware issue will be probably be cost-prohibitive in this case, given how difficult iMacs are to get "into", and the fact that this is an old "spare" machine for me. |

Can I manually re-calibrate the iPhone 4 compass? Thanks for the update... while it didn't make it any more accurate, it seems doing the figure 8 with a compass-relevant app open does affect the calibration-- no need to wait for a prompt. |

Can I manually re-calibrate the iPhone 4 compass? This sounds like a clever solution (so long as it's not too powerful a magnet, or so close to the phone as to mess with data). I couldn't get the recalibration screen to come up, though. I even tried moving two magnets around the phone independently. No dice. |
