Hrm, my hunch was wrong. Editing question.

comment Are there any options for IOS development on Windows 8? (Apps, Emulators, Cloud Computing OK)
I don't actually know enough about the App store submission process to know for sure, but given that MacinCloud is marketed towards developers for that very reason, I would be very surprised if there were issues with that.

@8None1 That's what I do! VMWare Fusion with a second monitor is where it's at.

Yup. Windows and game licenses don't have hardware restrictions. You still have to buy the games, obviously.

You know, I had a hunch it had to do with sub-netting... This is just barely out of my area, but here's what I remember (I'll check to be sure later) -- the subnet mask is 255.255.240.0. That means 20 bits of network and 12 bits of host, yes? So the third octet of the host IPs must ALL be within a 0-15 range (or 16-31, 32-47, etc.) and if I have one host with .15.xxx and another with .16.xxx, they are not on the same subnet?

comment Can I control how Preview decides to group documents when opening them all at once?
A little while (30m-1h) after submitting this question, the documents including the new one started opening all in one group. Curiouser...

comment To what degree should the oldness of my phone affect my tethering speed?
I'm well aware of that -- hence my issue. My tethering internet feels like I'm on four dial-up lines bundled together sometimes.

Oh, but the iPhone 4s uses Bluetooth 4.0, not 2.1+EDR.

But indeed, the "average" of 8.1 Mbps is far beyond the capability of Bluetooth. So I should take that into consideration.

Well, not quite: I did really mean 200 kbps -- little b bits. This does seem to vary quite greatly in different areas, even all with good service -- I've also tested at 1.2 Mbps down/361 Kbps up. So, not great -- 11% of average.
