comment How do I create totally independent web browsers in different Desktops?
No matter how many windows you open, they're all referencing the same application and stored history and settings. The only thing I would think to try is copying the Safari.app itself before launching, but that still might not work. If I needed to do this, I'd just run a different (like Chrome) in the other space.

comment how to annotate scanned PDF on MAC
So what you really need is the ability to draw semitransparent rectangles on a PDF image. Preview indeed can only draw opaque boxes, but there are a multitude of options out there. I've heard good things about (though haven't tried myself) PDFPen Pro. You may also find alternativeto.net to be a useful resource for other options.

Neat! I think Chrome is able to do something like this natively on Windows -- I wonder if feature parity for the mac version is on its way.

So are you suggesting that the Bonjour discovery method is broken currently?

Yes, of course. On a laptop, there's even an AirPlay Display setting right above that that indicates "No Devices Detected".

comment How can an app be running yet not appear in the Dock?
Good tip, but worth noting that if this was the case for Preview, then opening preview normally would not be possible.

comment Are there any options for IOS development on Windows 8? (Apps, Emulators, Cloud Computing OK)
I don't actually know enough about the App store submission process to know for sure, but given that MacinCloud is marketed towards developers for that very reason, I would be very surprised if there were issues with that.

@8None1 That's what I do! VMWare Fusion with a second monitor is where it's at.

Yup. Windows and game licenses don't have hardware restrictions. You still have to buy the games, obviously.

You know, I had a hunch it had to do with sub-netting... This is just barely out of my area, but here's what I remember (I'll check to be sure later) -- the subnet mask is 255.255.240.0. That means 20 bits of network and 12 bits of host, yes? So the third octet of the host IPs must ALL be within a 0-15 range (or 16-31, 32-47, etc.) and if I have one host with .15.xxx and another with .16.xxx, they are not on the same subnet?
