Welcome to the site. If everything is well, please accept someone's answer. Also, better to make this a comment on your original question than as another answer.

comment Can I silence alarms from shared calendar (on a calendar-by-calendar basis)?
This works for me, even though I use BusyCal. I turned off alarms in iCal and BusyCal, despite not having a similar checkmark in its preference pane, ignores those same alarms. I guess BusyCal somehow respects the iCal preferences.

comment How can I keep “Update Notifications” from disrupting a Keynote presentation?
I do this, and the update dialog does pop up on the "presenter" display. Unfortunately, it also stops the slideshow and Keynote goes back to slide-editing mode.

I'd be happiest to be able to silence them on OS X in BusyCal.

comment Keyboard shortcuts for dynamic menu items (Keynote)
@TimothyMueller-Harder, Yes. Anything that keeps me from "right-click Skip slide, Right-click Show slide" would be acceptable.

@JimMcKeeth, no solution yet. Still bugs me every day.

comment How can I set the background image the same on all master slides without editing each master slide individually in Keynote?
I'd love to see such an AppleScript. As a teacher, I'm forever going through last year's slides and updating the master slides to have elements that mention this year's version. It would be WONDERFUL to automate that somehow. (But, my AppleScript skills are mostly of the cut-n-paste-n-tweak variety). Bring on the scripts, please!

No problem. Improving the answers is what it's all about. Thanks!

Too bad! I presume no other backups running either.

comment Can you (semi-)automatically rate all songs with at least X plays with Y stars in iTunes?
Why 60? Does that map to 3 stars somehow? Is it 20 points per star? Is it useful to have ratings at one point intervals (i.e. rating of 58)?

So, what in the world is OmniGraffle doing registering URI handlers? That's a vector drawing tool.

comment How to get out a stuck cd out of my mac mini (not the actual model the one from 2010? (slot-in drive)
I've done a similar thing with a credit card. I slipped a corner of the card (not the whole thing! You don't want to lose that too) into the slot and under the CD. I then tried to eject the CD. The mechanism was able to guide the CD over whatever obstruction was there, up onto the credit card, and out the slot.

comment App to empty trash on a single drive
This is sweet! Works very well. Love that I can just drop a volume on it -- don't have to open applications, run through menus, type anything, etc. Nice work!

comment App to empty trash on a single drive
GEdgar, care to explain how Cocktail answers my question? I downloaded it (from the link you found, thanks!). But I don't see any mechanisms to clear the trash (easily missed, this thing has dozens of options). I see a button to Force Empty the trash, but that is only on the system disk. Certainly don't see anything that I easily get to.

comment App to empty trash on a single drive
Honest Answer: Because I want to recover space on a USB stick (and thus need to empty the trash while it is mounted) but don't want to empty the trash on my main volume (because I'm afraid of needing to recover something from my recently-worked on set of files).

Is this data kept in a file somewhere that I could sync between machines? Where is that file?

comment How does Keynote decide which display to appear on?
I obviously wasn't clear enough with my question. I'm not asking how to control the presentation when the slideshow starts. I'm asking how to control which screen the application starts on when initially launched.

comment How does Keynote decide which display to appear on?
Dan, this isn't the presentation problem. I actually mean that the app opens on the "secondary" display when it is started. Not when I start the presentation.
