comment Print file from terminal via smb
@Mark, print is not strictly a windows command; It's also present with the Linux version of smbutils, and it once was included in the OS X version. You are quite correct about lpr — this is the command one would use to print from terminal on OS X.

comment How do I recompile Bash to avoid Shellshock (the remote exploit CVE-2014-6271 and CVE-2014-7169)?
The OS X bash Update 1.0 patch mentioned above is specific to OS X 10.9.5 or later — Here's all of them: OS X 10.7.5 (Lion), OS X 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion), OS X 10.9.5 ( Mavericks).

comment Mass remove character from file names and folder names
If you're starting at the root of it then yes, it might take a little while. I usually test it on a directory that I know contains a matching item, then if all looks good run the command from higher up (and go for a walk if needed).

comment Mass remove character from file names and folder names
@Vinozio, How many directories are you scanning? It should be almost instantaneous if not many. If you're starting at / for example it could take a while. Try using the command in a directory where you know there's a file/folder with the < in the name and see what it does.

comment Does Remote Wipe securely wipe the contents of the drive?
@LucasKauffman, I was meaning to the way in which Apple defined "secure wipe". As for AES-256, yes, it's quite secure, and humans will never break it. Quantum computing might stand a better chance, however, there's no way of telling what is possible beyond what we currently (think we) know.

comment 1993 Apple Color Classic
@DanielLawson, Apple II was stylized Apple ][, and Apple IIGS as Apple IIÉ¢s. Only Apple //e was stylized with the two forward slashes if I recall correctly.

comment Does Remote Wipe securely wipe the contents of the drive?
@LucasKauffman, In ten years someone will look back on this and think "Did they really believe that was secure?" — likely whilst snickering.

comment XCode 5 - Remove offline documentation?
Well that's the thing, Apple is constantly updating/revising docs, but often times they simply remove portions, which then might only be available for download through XCode. I can't tell you how many times I've tried to go to a linked online documentation page only to find it no longer exists.

comment How to determine what the repair people did to fix my MacBook?
It seems strange that they would not tell you if they replaced something in the machine. They must have opened it up for some reason though, since the screws are missing — so maybe take a peek yourself and see if anything is different. One thing I thought of, is that if you've done a system report at some point before taking your system in and had saved it then you could compare everything in detail.
