comment How to select which iOS device receives push notifications (for Facebook)
Facebook's notification system is massively flakey, I imagine it's sending it, classing one device as having 'read' it and then stopping at that stage.

Read from it even, sorry trying to multi-task badly. You actually have the command a little off, it should be if=/dev/disk2 rather than the full version, when you unmount it leaves just that reference to it, but you can do it without unmount (just double checked)

You need to make sure it's unmounted first or OS X won't allow you to write to it, try {hdiutil eject <diskname>}

Ah yeah my bad I misread it! The easiest way I know of is to use dd, the command will be: dd if=/dev/<your usb drive> of=win7.iso. You can then use that to create a DVD from either Disk Utility or Toast.

Which models, when were they purchased? As far as I know only the 27" can handle it, but if you can specify which one it might make it easier to work out.

comment Editing Hosts File to Redirect URL to different IP Address
Try deleting the hosts files found at <username>/ and /etc, then cp the /etc/private one over into /etc with sudo. It'll break that SwitchHosts thing, but might resolve your issue.

Ah, thought we might get lucky and find that it was a simple one. So if you've run switchhosts your hosts file now exists outside of /etc (kind of). The ln command creates a symbolic link between the files so /etc/hosts points to <username>/hosts. OS X reads /etc/hosts first and it's normally a symlink to /etc/private/hosts, so editing /etc/private/hosts won't update /etc/hosts. You can either edit the hosts file in <username>, or /etc/hosts and that should do it.
