The Mac mini, which debuted in 2002, is Apple's smallest desktop computer. Prior to the mid-2011 refresh, all Mac minis had an optical drive, except for the server editions. The Mac mini was also the first Apple product to ship without a display, keyboard, or mouse.
The original Mac mini had a 32-bit PowerPC G4 processor. In early 2006, it was updated from the original processor to an Intel Core Solo/Intel Core Duo. The current model offers a dual core i5 or a quad core i7.
