Japanese for emoticon - a picture character similar to smiley which is commonly used in text messaging and chat. Emoji support has been added to version 6.1 of Unicode and allows for glyphs such as ๐Ÿ˜„, ๐Ÿฑ, ๐ŸŽˆ, ๐Ÿ  and ๐Ÿ“ถ. Some typography engines will even render these as color graphics.
