Ask Different is a question and answer site for power users of Apple hardware and software. It's 100% free, no registration required.

When I installed inkscape, it asked me for the location of x11, and without thinking, I choose xcode, rather than xQuartz. So now, if I try to open it via its icon in the applications folder nothing happens, but I can open it via the xterm window if I open xQuartz first if I run the command /Applications/Inkscape.app/Contents/MacOS/Inkscape.

I found this answer, but it isn't quite what I need.

Where would I set the path for X11 for inkscape?
