At home, I've got an iMac 27" display with two Thunderbolt display ports, and it has a 27" Cinema Display connected to one of the display ports. So, basic setup: 27" iMac + 27" Cinema Display. Now, when I bring in my workplace MacBook Pro as a primary Mac that displays on BOTH the iMac 27" with the connected 27" Cinema Display.
I have successfully used my iMac 27" as a target display to the MacBook Pro laptop, but when I do this the connected 27" Cinema Display shows the desktop of my iMac 27". I was hoping that the Cinema Display would just be an extension to the laptop's desktop. So, I thought that maybe closing the laptop's lid would eliminate the laptop's display and let the connected Cinema Display act as the extension, but it doesn't.
Does anybody know how I can solve this? Is it even possible to do this? Another strange thing is that even though I am seeing the iMac's desktop on the Cinema Display, I cannot interact with any of the icons or windows with the connected mouse or keyboard (although I can move the mouse cursor).
Thanks for reading, and I appreciate any suggestions!
