Ask Different is a question and answer site for power users of Apple hardware and software. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I'm using OS 10.6.8 and Mail 4.6. My internet provider is Comcast and my email is through Fat Cow. So my email starts with Fat Cow, goes through Comcast and comes in through my POP settings. At the end of last week my email would no longer send from my computer. I receive everything, I just can't send. I spoke with Fat Cow and they said their settings were fine and could send and receive from my account. I called Comcast and they reviewed the settings and said it was either Fat Cow or my Mail software. Also, I have a laptop and iPhone with the account set up as IMAP, and can send just fine from the same email. I'm at a loss here! FYI, I don't want to change from POP to IMAP on this computer. Thanks for any help or ideas on this!

Hi, welcome to the site. You question is a bit localized at present, we cannot possibly comment on what your ISP may be telling you and if it is correct or not. You might want to ammend your question a little to make it more relevant to a wider audience (whilst still getting your answer) - I suggest rewording it to ask how to troubleshoot a POP mail connection or something. –  stuffe Mar 18 '13 at 16:08
Likewise it would be helpful to list the settings that Fat Cow recommends, and might be beneficial to include screenshots of your settings in Mail. It might even be helpful to see screenshots of your (functioning) settings on iOS. –  bispymusic Mar 18 '13 at 17:14
Have you run Connection Doctor in Mail? Look under the Window menu. Click on any problem and it takes you to that setting. –  Zo219 Mar 18 '13 at 21:07
