OSX keeps trying to run diskutil to check my hard drive whenever I boot the system. Problem is it hangs up and reboots during the checking.

The system was running fine before rebooting. I suspect it can boot fine if the diskutil check doesn't run. Is there any way to prevent it from running at boot?

I've tried booting also in recovery mode but it still runs the hard disk check.

That's actually not a good sign. I would run Disk Warrior (or equivalent) and test the integrity of your disk. You should most certainly make a backup ASAP. Disk Utility relies on SMART status and that's notoriously bad at predicting hard drive failure. – cksum Feb 4 at 0:58
