Ask Different is a question and answer site for power users of Apple hardware and software. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I've got a Smart Mailbox setup in Apple Mail to gather meeting notes I send out. I use rules to select all messages that start with "meeting notes" and are from my email address.

Unfortunately, Mail seems to consider a message with a subject of "re: meeting notes" or "fwd: meeting notes" as also begining with "meeting notes" - ignoring the re: or fwd: prefix in the subject. So any discussion around the notes I have with folks....replies and forwards...also gets caught up in the smart mailbox.

Is there any way to dumb down mail a bit and make it igonore replies and forward?

TIA...Larry

Stuff I've already tried:

  1. Added filter to include messages only from myself (but if I reply to someones reply...re: re:...those messages still get included in the smart mailbox

  2. Added filter to ignore messages with "Re:" in the subject - no effect - smart mailboxes ignore re: or few: text in the subject line

Filters as set shown here
