I'm a Windows guy, buy I would like to get into IOS development, and for this you need a Mac.

A new Mac Mini costs a minimum of £499 (I'm in the UK) and this is just a bit out of my price range, but I have found that I can buy a supposedly new, current generation Mac Mini with the same Spec as the £499 model on ebay for £169.99 from a seller with a lot of good feedback, and I am very tempted to go for it, but there has to be a catch.

I'm thinking that this may be stolen or something, but am I being too suspicious? Is there a perfectly legitimate reason that somebody could sell a £499 apple product on ebay for £169.99, and still make a profit?

Thanks

I would be curious what they say. At the bottom of the page, there is a link to "Ask Question". You could query them and see what they say. There is no doubt that's a huge price difference. Personally, I certainly don't think you are being too suspicious in the slightest. We all know there has to be quite a influx of stolen Apple products after the France store was robbed. – bassplayer7 Jan 26 at 13:16
I have noticed that now, I will ask a question and post the response (if I receive one) – JMK Jan 26 at 13:41
I'm generally suspicious of any eBay seller with no return policy. This one seems to have one so at least you could return it if it's not what you expect it to be. – Richard Jan 26 at 19:18
The item you linked to is no longer available. – cksum Jan 26 at 19:45
As asked this is about individual sellers choosing a price when selling goods. I'm not sure it can be turned into a more constructive question about Apple - but here's a nice article explaining how Apple maintains consistent pricing between authorized sales channels. macworld.com/article/2024257/how-apple-sets-its-prices.html The beauty of an auction is people sell things for less than they are worth if they were more patient and waited for a high bidder, so that complicates pricing discussions immeasurably without considering stolen or damaged goods. – bmike Jan 26 at 20:35
