I have a 2nd gen iPod that is USB and therefore cannot work on a Sony LX40i docking station - I believe the docking station is firewire. Can I buy an adapter so I can play through it - it shows that the iPod is charging though.

Would you mind editing your question and adding a link to the product to make sure we understand exactly what product you are talking about. Also, could you clarify the Firewire and USB part. It seems if the dock is Firewire, you wouldn't be even charging from it. Lastly, have you looked for an adapter? – bassplayer7 Jan 18 at 19:31

As far as I know, no. There's no adapter for it, as far as I know.

Though there are 30-pin to Firewire and 30-pin to USB cables, their wiring are pretty different.

the LX40i has an auxiliary cable input. Use that. The second gen ipod has a firewire connection. and wouldnt show as connected in any capacity. there is no adapter for firewire to FEMALE 30 pin. SOrry.
