I installed Microsoft Office Mac student version and since then I haven't gotten any emails either through Apple mail or gmail. I have a MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion.

Welcome to SE! Have you sent a test message to yourself? Did you set up email in Outlook? Would you mind editing your question to include more details about things that you have tried doing to fix the problem? – bassplayer7 Jan 18 at 2:13
