This question was marked as an exact duplicate of an existing question.

Are you asking about iMessage as a service for iOS and OS X, or the Messages app on OS X? – Kevin Chen Jan 9 '13 at 1:31
I edited this to have one question. Feel free to ask the second question as a new stand-alone query. – bmike Sep 19 '13 at 0:49
