Ask Different is a question and answer site for power users of Apple hardware and software. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have a MacBook Pro retina running Mountain Lion. Finder View-->Show Path Bar doesn't work. When I toggle it, it just changes the size of the Finder window, without showing the path bar.

Another questioner had this problem and I tried these things that were suggested to him, and neither of them worked:

  • Remove the Finder plist. You can find it at ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist. Then restart.
  • Remove BetterSnapTool (this was the solution that worked for him, but I never had BetterSnapTool, nor any other finder mod utilities that I know of)

What can I do to fix this?
