Ask Different is a question and answer site for power users of Apple hardware and software. It's 100% free, no registration required.

First I would like to apologize for posting this question on Apple-related stackexchange site. I looked at all stackexchange sites and it seems that this one is the closest to the topic of my question. If however you know of a more appropriate stackexchange site, please let me know and I will move my question there.

So, as the title says I'm looking for an inexpensive mp3 player, hopefully around $80 and below, that runs on AA or AAA batteries, preferably AA, and that has an SD* card slot and also supports SD* cards of at least 32GB. Doesn't matter if it's SD or microSD, SDHC or SDXC, I just need the 32GB minimum support. Internal storage could be 1GB for all I care.

Multiple format support like FLAC, AAC, Vorbis etc is not necessary.

It is pretty hard to find AA or AAA powered player nowadays, so a player that has a replaceable internal battery, preferably with one that nokia uses in its cheaper mobile phones would also be ok.

My current option is going with Sandisk Sansa Clip+ with an external AA charging thingy like Tekkeon, but this setup is a little clumsy in my opinion, so I would first like to know if there are other options.

This player is going to be used every workday of the week, for at least 8 hours. It is a replacement for a dying discman.

So if you know of a player that meets the above criteria, please let me know.

As noted in apple.stackexchange.com/faq#questions this site is for Apple related questions, so your question (as interesting it may be) is off topic. – patrix Dec 25 '12 at 14:48
We both discourage hardware shopping questions as well as ones not relating to Apple so unless this were really about how to get player X to work with iTunes, it's quite off topic here. I don't know of a site that covers this - but hit us up in the Ask Different Chat room to see if someone else knows of a SE site or can suggest some edits to tie your player search into iTunes perhaps... – bmike Dec 25 '12 at 14:48
