I have an Apple laptop here, with lots of hi-rez panoramas on it (up to 1 GB per file), saved as
.hdr format. Going through a folder with images using the arrow keys means that on each panorama, quicklook tries to generate a preview, and because the file is so large, it binds all available CPU time for some minutes. Response gets sluggish, the fan speeds up to unpleasant noise levels, etc.
I saw this question about turning quicklook off for .mkv, which says to modify the .qlgenerator file which contains the given file type. But on the system in question, there was no .qlgenerator file with a name connected to images in any way. There were only 7-8 .qlgenerator files in /System/Library/QuickLook/, and the ones I opened didn't have .hdr listed.
How do I turn the quicklook feature off specifically for these very large files?
