I recently updated Mac OS X with the latest push from Apple, and it updated my Java version to 1.6.0_37. After following the instructions in HT5559, I was able to restore javaws function.

Unfortuantely, javaws will now only run WebStart applications that are in some trust list, as my custom WebStart application silently exits after downloading.

  • Where can I manage the trusted WebStart applications? (now that the Java Preferences.app is gone)
  • How do I run an untrusted application?

Previously, I was able to force a prompt for trust,

  • How do I force javaws to prompt me if I trust the application?
