Ask Different is a question and answer site for power users of Apple hardware and software. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have a machine running iTunes 11 and another running iTunes 10. iTunes 11 can see my iTunes 10 library shared from the other machine, and I can connect to it successfully, but none of the tracks play – instead, an exclamation point just appears next to the track. Happens for 100% of the tracks shared from my iTunes 10 machine (which all play fine locally).

I can't upgrade the iTunes 10 machine because it's a PowerBook (PowerPC) and 10 is the latest version available.

Is something wrong or is this simply not possible?
