I have a early 2011 MBP, Mountain Lion (OS 10.8.2), a Crucial M4 SSD and I have noticed that the battery performance when the computer is 'sleeping' with the lid closed is crap. If I got to bed at midnight and open the computer up again 8 hours later the battery is flat -- completely -- unless I hade 20% or more charge when I closed the lid. I am baffled that 8 hours 'sleep' would use 15 to 20% of the battery (which has undergone 561 recharge cycles, and has still 87% of the design capacity). I normally let the battery go down to 5%, plug in, charge to 100% and unplug, so I would guess the battery had a reasonable use.

How can I make battery life last longer when the computer is sleeping?

Has this computer always had this problem or did you do something (like update the OS, update a certain app, etc.) and it started after that? – David Holdeman Dec 18 '12 at 23:57
