I've had a 2011 15" MacBook Pro with Mac OS X Lion for about a year now. I now want to set up Boot Camp so that I can also run Windows 7 on it.
Boot Camp will have to create a new partition for Windows 7, so I wonder if I should defrag the hard drive before installing Boot Camp. I've read that, in general, Mac OS X does not need to be defragged, but a few people have said that one of the few cases in which you might want to defrag is before you do any repartitioning.
Is that true? Would it be a good idea to defrag the hard drive before Boot Camp repartitions it? If so, is there any good software that can reliably defrag it?
