Ask Different is a question and answer site for power users of Apple hardware and software. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I am the happy owner of a MacBook Pro, Parallels Desktop 7, and Windows 8. I haven't installed Windows 8 yet, but I'd like to do it soon. (I know Apple's drivers are not yet up-to-date, but from this Ars Technica article, it seems that it works fine anyways).

The biggest obstacle so far is that installing Windows takes time, and I have very little free time that I'm willing to spend by the side of my computer, waiting for me to answer questions. So I thought, it would be pretty cool if I could let Windows install from Parallels and just do something else while it's doing its job.

Is it possible to install Windows on the Boot Camp partition from inside Parallels?

I realize that ultimately that may not be possible, and that installing Windows 8 is not that long. But still, that would be a pretty neat trick if it was possible. – zneak Dec 5 '12 at 4:56
