I have a MacBook unibody late '08 (now with Lion). In 2009 I bumped its RAM up to 4GB and at at around Feb-April this year, I fitted a Crucial M4 128GB SSD. I replaced my optical drivewith an optibay ,attached with a 500GB HDD. The SSD serves my applications and OS drive, the HDD my home folders and data. With that, here is what I have been noticing lately...
My laptop randomly starts working its fan and it feels hot, yet temperatures show around 37C degrees on all three sensors. When watching movies or even writing away, at times things stagger/lag. With video playback it means that they will freeze momentarily every couple of seconds. When word processing (using Evernote mainly), it plays catch up every so often whereby I type and will see what I've written seconds later.
I've looked into reconditioning SSDs as I thought this might be the issue, but that doesn't explain the fan's behaviour. Also, my SSD still has around 70GB free, so I've used under half.
I've attached to grabs below, the first shows my activity monitor while playing back video (when it starts to stutter), the second after a system wake up. I don't remember seeing such a patten before, is that normal?

Lastly, I use the terminal yesterday to enable TRIM on my drive, and so it hasn't been active since purchase...
All help is appreciated. I should add here that part of my role includes Desktop Support/Server support but I can't clock this one. =)
