I am trying to install linux, by booting from a USB key.

When I option-boot, an orange icon labelled 'EFI Boot' appears.

When I select it, the activity light on the USB key flashes for about 3-4 minutes then stops. Meanwhile the screen has not changed from the initial 'option boot' screen.

I left it on there for about 20 minutes then ran out of patience and gave up.

This is on an intel mac pro 1,1 .

Has anyone got any idea on how to fix this?
