I'm having a devil of a time trying to get data out of QuickBooks 2010 in a form that I can import into MySQL.

I've been advised to make a report, then click the "Export to Excel" button, then save the Excel data as CVS, to import into MySQL.

Problem is, I don't own Excel, and the one I was able to "borrow" for just this one purpose (from Microsoft Office 2004) won't run -- it hangs during startup. I'm not going to buy Microsoft Office for just this one export!

Is there some way I can fool QuickBooks into opening Apple Numbers instead of Excel when I click "Export to Excel?"

Is there some other way to move things from QuickBooks 2010 into MySQL?

I spent nearly a day googling, and didn't find anything credible.
