Ask Different is a question and answer site for power users of Apple hardware and software. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Apple recalled my late 2009 iMac recently and fitted a new hard disk. I backed up the entire disk using SuperDuper before it went away, and also had sets of Time Machine backups to hand just in case.

When I reinstalled using the SuperDuper clone I was surprised to find that none of the rules I had created in Mail to filter messages into specific folders was included.

Can anyone explain why this might be and if there is a way to extract the crucial file from the SuperDuper clone?

Incidentally, what is the name of the file containing the Rules data?

Presumably I have to get into the Library in the Users folder, but I don't know how to reveal that hidden item.

Any help would be much appreciated.
