I am having trouble trying to telnet into a device on my network via my Mac running the latest version of Mountian Lion OS X 10.8.2

I am unable to telnet to a local network address (192.168.x.x) from terminal on my mac.

However, if I use a telnet app on my tablet, no problem, works fine.

There is nothing in the hosts file, no firewall or anything of that nature on.

What could be stopping me?

I've drawn a blank, so hope someone has an answer.+

Any errors or warnings when you try to connect? – Nathan Greenstein Oct 19 '12 at 21:27
Could be a simple network issue, try to renew your DHCP address on your Mac – user1760592 Oct 19 '12 at 21:50
Are the devices in the same ip range? – Danny Staple Oct 19 '12 at 21:54
@user1760592 Its been re-started, that should have renewed the DHCP and the router has been power cycled. – SteveINtheUKok Oct 19 '12 at 22:07
@DannyStaple Yes, Same range. – SteveINtheUKok Oct 19 '12 at 22:08
