I run Windows under Parallels to be able to run a regression test suite, which repeatedly starts a new Windows application window.

The problem is that each time a new window pops up, Mountain Lion's Mission Control shifts to the space that contains the Parallels Desktop window, which effectively makes OS X unusable during such a test suite run. In Coherent mode things are even worse.

The only way I have found to stop the "space shift" is to minimize the Parallels Desktop window itself, but that has the side effect that, when "unminimized", all Windows windows reappear at their minimal size.

Is there a way to tell Parallels to not focus new windows?

What happens if you Hide Parallels, I think the Dock Icon will jump but that should be all. – Mark Mar 4 at 14:35
