After opening the lid on my 2010 MacBook Pro, the machine indicated it was not charging yet and the MagSafe light was amber.

I followed the SMC instructions, installed the Java update, restarted, and then powered the laptop off. After doing the this, I was able to turn it back on, but when I was setting the time it turned off - the battery said "Not Charging".

I waited about 20 minutes, while plugged in with the amber MagSafe light. During the 20 minutes, the battery indicator flashed three times, showing there was not enough power. I did the SMC steps again, but then again the MacBook turned off saying replace the battery soon. Now it is plugged in, the MagSafe is amber, but the battery indicator is only flashing one light and when I touch the case I can feel some electricity.

What is strange is that 4 hours before openening the lid the battery was at 100% and no one had touched the computer, only it wasn't plugged in. That was unusual. The battery is usually OK for about 2-3 hours. Also while the MagSafe is showing that the computer is charging, only one indicator light flashes.

There is no retail store around here that I can visit.
