Ask Different is a question and answer site for power users of Apple hardware and software. It's 100% free, no registration required.

For years my wife has had her email, calendar, and contacts stored on Entourage (most recently Entourage 2008). Now she would like to be able to take advantage of iCloud to automatically sync calendars and contacts across her iDevices, but it appears Entourage (and even Outlook) does not and will not support iCloud. So we're looking at migrating her to some other solution. Requirements are:

  • Local applications with local copies of email (ie doesn't want everything stored exclusively in the cloud, like with Gmail)
  • Her existing data (email, calendars, contacts) can be migrated so she doesn't lose it
  • Rough functional parity with Entourage

Are the built in Mail/Contacts/Calendar apps the best way to go here? Can they import everything from Entourage? Or is there another, better solution?
