I've found some photos cause the iPhoto 'Assembling' phase of ordering prints to freeze so so that the iPhoto still shows, but is otherwise unresponsive to the point that only Force Quit can quit. This has caused a couple of apple crash reports, but not consistently. Cropping the photos seemed to allow the assembly phase to work. I don't want to spend my days cropping. Does anybody know what is wrong with my photos, and if there is a non-crop fix? |

This definitely sounds like a bug. I don't think you can fix it without having the app's source code, so I would suggest filing a bug report with Apple. iPhoto bugs are filed here. Change the "Feedback type" to "bug report", then write a detailed description of the problem. But you should know that someone else could have done this exercise, and maybe the bug is already fixed. One thing you could try is simply updating your iPhoto to the newest one if you haven't done so already. This is done through the App Store (you already knew that, but just to be complete). If your version is the newest, then you should consider filing that bug, so Apple can fix this issue with the next update of iPhoto. |

I came across the same problem, and have a dual boot (10.7 & 10.8) system so thought I'd try the same action booted in 10.7 with the same photos and the same version of iPhoto downloaded from the Mac App Store and when booted into 10.7.4 the Order Prints worked first time. When booted into Mountain Lion it stalls at the Assembly stage of Send Your Order. I would therefore put this down to a Mountain Lion issue, my guess is going to be around app sandboxing. I have a question for you though, is you 10.8 system FileVault'd? Mine is, but my Lion partition isn't. |

I also have this problem, using iPhoto 11 (9.3.2) and Mountain Lion (10.8). iPhoto freezes after processing the first photo for an order during the 'assembling' phase. The process never completes, and iPhoto has to be force quit. |
