I'm having trouble with an issue that I've had for a year now: the new sorting view that Lion introduces (with the non-selectable columns) acts really weird sometimes (randomly, more often in Time Machine it seems).

All the files in the view turn into (non-selectable) headers, resulting in a useless Finder/Time Machine window (as far as that folder goes). Folders are also displayed as headers, but also with their contents below them, but they are displayed as normal item rows and are selectable. The attached image shows what I mean.

It only seems to happen with the "Date added" option in the ~/Downloads folder. This question poses the exact opposite situation, one I sometimes also have, but is less problematic, because it still lets me select the items. In the Finder (not Time Machine) I could get this behaviour to stop temporarily by opening a different folder / trying a different sorting and then going back. In Time Machine this doesn't work.

Has anyone seen this before? If so, do you know how to fix it?

Installing Mountain Lion did not fix the bug, by the way, something I had hoped.
