In my beloved car I've got a FM-transmitter to be able to listen to my phone's music. Sure, this won't give me the best sound quality. Using another iPhone or another device to output sound to this FM-transmitter, it works flawlessly. The sound is actually very impressing, no static noise or cracks at all!

However, once I use my iPhone to play music, the quality becomes awful with cracks, static noise, everything. Ironically, both devices use 320kb MP3's - which makes it even more wierd.

Is my iPhone broken or am I missing something?

(both are iPhone 4S, mine is running iOS 5.0.1 while the other one is running the latest version)

I have had a very weird issue different times with my phone as well in a different situation, and found that there were different "sweet spots" in the volume - one volume would have static, and just a little louder/quieter would have none. Try turning the volume on the phone up or down to see if that could fix it. – bassplayer7 Jul 27 '12 at 11:53
