Ask Different is a question and answer site for power users of Apple hardware and software. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Less than a week ago MacOS X snow leopard just stopped booting. I had some long boot delays for some week now, but now it's just stuck at the white or blue screen (just after the apple logo + throbbler thing). I can still move the mouse cursor, but nothing else. I did wait for 15 or 30 minutes, but nothing else happens.

Oddly my mac still boots on windows xp (which I installed thanks to bootcamp).

I backup'd my files, and put my OSX 10.6 DVD I got with the macbook, held C while starting up, but the disk keeps coming out.

Any idea ?
