I recently installed an SSD in my 2009 MBP and replaced the DVD-drive with the original HD. It has transformed an ageing machine beyond recognition.

However the battery now seems to be draining much more quickly than it did pre-SSD, I'm not sure why but I suspect having two drives may be helping things along. I've read in various places that one shouldn't allow SSDs to sleep so what I really want to do is have the HD sleep as much as possible (it holds backup and media files) and keep the SSD on fulltime. But I can only find the one setting within System Preferences.

Is there a hidden setting that will allow me to achieve my goal?
