I have a Time Capsule 2GB (4th generation) as my main router. I also have an old Airport Extreme (the 802.11b/g one). My USB printer is located away from my Time Capsule and I would like to use the Airport Extreme to network the printer to my client machines.

I have tried setting up a Wireless Distribution System (WDS) with the Time Capsule as the main and the Airport Extreme as the remote but without success. I have done this in the past with an Linksys router as the main, but I can't replicate it and am wondering if I am goofing up the settings somehow.

So here is how I try to setup the AE.
1) Select "Participate in a WDS Network" under Wireless Mode 2) Name the Network the same as my Time Capsule Network SSID 3) Use the same security/password 4) Put it in WDS Remote mode 5) Use the Time Capsule 2.4GHz MAC address as the WDS Main 6) Check Allow wireless clients

The AE doesn't show an external IP address and is unable to connect to the Internet. Under the Internet tab, I can select bridge mode, share IP addresses, or distribute a range of IP addresses and still no Internet
