I sent my MBP to the shop for repairs, and one of the things they did was reinstall the Snow Leopard. Now my system settings and paths are gone, for example:

$ brew install ngspice
Error: Cannot write to /usr/local/Cellar

(after doing some manual chown hacking):
$ brew install ngspice
Warning: Xcode is not installed! Builds may fail!
Error: No such file or directory - /usr/bin/cc

$ git
-bash: git: command not found

In reference to the above examples: I have both Xcode and Git installed. I'm guessing the same problem is going on for my other utilities. Is there something I can do, which is NOT any of the following:

  1. Set PATH manually in my .bash_profile. Right now I have the following hacky line:

    export PATH=/usr/local/bin:${PATH} #I don't think I need to do this

  2. Reinstall the affected utilities.
