I'm from Vietnam and I'm using an iPhone 4. My current language setting for the phone is English, the region format in Settings > International > Region Format is also US.
Recently I'm having a problem that when searching in Safari with the built in search engine, it doesn't show the result but goes back to the homepage google.com, although the URL is still the search query that I entered. When tapping the "Search" button on that homepage it automatically goes to some search result in google.ca.
I tried to change the region format in Settings > International > Region Format to Vietnam, and the search engine works perfect showing results in google.com.vn. But date and phone number in the iPhone turn to Vietnamese mode, which makes me feel uncomfortable as the date is really hard to follow. So I want to use google.com.
I did try to clear all history and cache but it's still the same. I also tried the button "go to google.com" when Vietnam region is set, then go back to US Region, but it still didn't work.
Also in my computer I have the same problem in Chrome and Firefox. But when I change the DNS to 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4 - Google DNS, it somehow make my search go to google.com.vn and the search becomes normal, even after I clear the DNS. I also tried that in iPhone, but of course it didn't work so that I'm here asking you guys.
