I need some way to display certain tables depending on other inputs. I am entirely sure that there's some combination of filters, categories, and formulas that can do what I want, but I'm not experienced enough to know precisely how. I came across another spreadsheet that sort of does what I want, but it's not very concise or efficient or clever. I've got some work on a LibreOffice Calc spreadsheet, that has a part of what I want, but I'm stuck in the same place over there. Here's a detailed account of what I'd like to make happen.

I have sheets that emulate the (malformed) tables included with the rulebook. I want to have a pop-up menu that allows a user to select what sort of weapon they want to use, and the spreadsheet should either filter out the unnecessary options from some master table, or select the correct sheet and show only data from that. In either case, it should only provide cells that are relevant to the pop-up menu selection.

If, for instance, they want to add a "Beam Weapon", it should show the fields and options for "Beam Weapons" only. If I were making a simpler search functionality, I would use a filter to display only relevant rows. If it's not possible to do so, which I fear may be the case, I would at least like the sheet to provide a printable card for the player.

I already have a table which allows the player to customize the frame of their mecha (it's a nerdy giant robot game), and it works very well. I have the data consolidated into a few tables, and there are popup menus that allow the player to select a few fields, and the document does the processing. This is done in Calc/Excel, by making the selection list display a range of cells that I have defined. There are a lot of IF(..VLOOKUP..)) type statements, but overall it looks nice and functions properly. How can I tell a pop-up menu in Numbers to allow values from a range? I can hardcode it, but I'd rather have data centralized so that any changes I make propagate throughout.

If I'm not clear on something, please let me know.
