I have some audio files that I have manually filled in information for on iTunes, telling it the album name, file name, etc. iTunes sometimes interprets these files incorrectly, reversing the album and file name. As a result, I get the same song on 12 albums instead of 12 songs on 1 album.

The naming format for some of my files is:

ArtistName - AlbumName - TrackNumber - SongName

After manual correction in 'Get info' on iTunes, when I double click the files to play, iTunes reverses my changes and takes my songs back to its original 12 album-1 song interpretation.

What's going on here?

You should check that you've got writing privileges on the original files, and run Repair Disk Permission, too, as sometimes permissions are messed up and can cause this kind of problems.

If the problem persists, you could try changing the meta info with another program, such as any of these.
