So being new to OS X, I checked out some of the highly rated and recommended apps for various things.

Things as a TODO list, MarsEdit for posting blogs, Yojimbo for note taking and organizing and Marked for Markdown display.

It sounds to me like, these are too many things to use.

What I need is some combination of what each of the above offers. Specifically:

  • Ability to take notes. Send them to pre configured email and delete locally.
  • Ability to live preview these notes from Markdown (or ReStructuredText) in HTML templates.
  • Ability to post these notes into blog.
  • Ability to have TODO lists exactly like Things - Which can have elaborate markdown notes, with previews.
  • Ability to tag and organize everything like Yojimbo.

Is there an app that seems to fit my needs? I really hate to be using 6 apps for what I think one app should be able to do well.

If you were to chose one or two of them for the same mentioned use cases, which would you and why?

You don't need a todo app, you probably need a personal assistant. – revolver May 23 '12 at 3:38

I think there is always room for improvement of a software bundle. So I don't think you'll find an app which can do all of this.

But for most of your needs, I think Evernote is what you're looking for. Evernote will allow you to make notes across all your platforms (iPhones, Macs, PC's, Androids,...), and be in sync with each other. Once deleted on your account, the note will be deleted on all devices.
Evernote had an excellent reputation concerning the sharing of notes. So there's a solution for you too.

I checked out Evernote. Somehow, I don't like that. Yojimbo is similar and feels far better. – Lakshman Prasad Apr 18 '12 at 17:00

Sounds like VoodooPad would fill the bill:

  • Notes: check
  • Markdown w/preview: check
  • Export HTML: check
  • TODO: check
  • Organization: check
