Here's what caused it: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/10166441/drawing-to-a-css3-3d-transformed-canvas-on-iphone4-causes-hard-freeze

I'm basically just pushing the hardware to its limits through WebKit.

Has anyone ever experienced this? Is the GPU hardware being overloaded? What's strange is that the iPhone starts choking on it once I put ~12 or so 3D divs in, while the iPad handles hundreds of them just fine (though the framerate gets low). Even a first gen iPod touch on 3.1.3 is able to render the page that causes the crashing on the iPhone.
