I have a three month old 27" iMac with 8GB of memory. If allowed to go into sleep mode more than a few minutes, the system becomes unresponsive. Only way to exit is to hold start button. Any suggestions?

When you wake it from sleep are you able to move the mouse at all? Does the same issue occur if you boot to the recover partition and put your iMac to sleep? – Matt Love Feb 11 '12 at 22:39
Unresponsive how? To wake Lion from sleep one must click a mouse button or tap a key on the keyboard. This changed from previous versions of OS X where one could wake the machine by just moving the mouse. – cksum Feb 12 '12 at 1:44
