Ask Different is a question and answer site for power users of Apple hardware and software. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I upgraded my iPad and since then the iTunes store does not always acknowledge my password. I have had to reset it 2 times. Now I have got an iPhone and the app store isn't accepting my password. It just worked on my iPad and I bought some music. Logged back in and it says it's the wrong password.

I can't use the verification question area as it doesn't have the correct info,.,ie on my birthdate I am answering correctly but it says it's wrong so maybe I made a mistake when I set it up.

It's not sending me the email to fix it now.

How can I get my password to remain stable and useable on all these devices and how do I change my verification info?

If your cookies in Safari are been deleted, then your login in iTunes is also affected. Why iTunes uses Safari to store its cookies in - I don't know.

This does happen every now and then with Apple ID on iOS devices when using the App and iTunes store, it happened to me a couple of weeks ago.

What has happened is over at Apple the servers hosting your details goes down, possibly not for long and more likely for maintenance or something of the sort, we cannot speculate on the reasons.

In the past when this has happened I have had to go in and change my password, which is very frustrating as I know the password and know I am spelling it correctly, just to be told that it isn't.

I went online to iCloud and tried to log into the Apple website. Which I managed

I wanted to call Apple when this happened the third time, so I called up and there was a long waiting list. I eventually hung up and tried to enter my password again.

This time it worked.

So wait for an hour or so, and try again, and in my experience this will work out.

To change your verification info.

Go to the Apple ID login page use your credentials to login in. Go to Password and security, you can then change your verification question and answer.
